      Start-up account

A start-up account is a temporary bank account used to make a share or equity capital contribution.

      • Open the account conveniently via the e-Business Register.
      • After the deposit, the bank will automatically notify the e-BusinessRegister of the capital payment.
      • You can then pay the state fee and submit the registration application.
      • No withdrawals or transfers can be made from the start-up account.
      • Once registered, you can open a current account for daily operations via Coop Pank's website or at one of our bank offices.

Become our client – Good to know

        • Opening an account for a company registered in Estonia* - free of charge
        • Monthly fee for a company registered in Estonia* - none

*If one or more of the owners of the company is a sole proprietor or legal entity linked to another country, opening an account is subject to fees according to the price list for business clients.

Review the price list for business clients.

      • Click on ‘Open account’, use Smart ID, Mobile ID or your ID card to log in, fill in the form and enter into the agreement. The account will then be opened immediately.

If you were unable to sign the agreement, this means we received your application but will get in touch with you as soon as possible to ask for further information, if needed. Be prepared to describe your business model to us as precisely as you can and to tell us who you plan to perform transactions with. All banks are obliged to follow the ‘know your customer’ principle.

If you’d like to, you can open a business client’s account at one of our branches. Such an account can only be opened by the company’s legal representative.

      • If the apartment association has a management board, transactions can be performed by the member of the board named in the register without them needing to submit separate authorisation. In the event that the members of the board have joint representation rights, the board can only represent the association collectively.

An apartment association isn’t required to have a management board if there are 10 or fewer apartments in the building or if all of the apartments are owned by the same individual. If there is no management board, the association is jointly led and represented by all of the owners, who are regarded as members of the board with joint representation rights. However, this means that all owners must indicate their volition when transactions are performed on behalf of an apartment association: the consent of all owners is required, which is why all of them must come to a branch of the bank or issue a joint power of attorney or a digitally signed letter of authorisation on the bank’s letterhead granting someone the authority to represent the apartment association in order to open an account and enter into other agreements.

Presentation of authorisation at a bank branch:

        • Fill in the authorisation form.
        • Digitally signed forms can be e-mailed in advance to klienditugi@cooppank.ee, noting the branch you’ll later come to in order to open your account.
        • We also accept simple written letters of authorisation signed at a branch in front of a member of our staff.
      • The easiest way to open a business client account as a non-resident is at one of our branches. You’ll need to demonstrate that you have a clear connection to Estonia and explain what financial need will be served by opening the account.

Coop Pank treats companies registered abroad or Estonian companies which are not controlled by an Estonian resident as non-residents.

We count the following as a strong connection to Estonia:

        • The company’s economic activities are connected to Estonia (e.g. its permanent place of business is in the country or it has employees in the country)
        • Its main partners are in Estonia
        • It provides a product or service aimed at the Estonian market (e.g. an Estonian-language online store)
        • It has property in Estonia or the company’s operations are related to property (e.g. property management or development)

When coming in to the branch, make sure you have the required documents with you:

        • Personal ID
        • An overview of the ownership structure and real beneficiaries of the company
        • If the company is registered outside of Estonia, then the registration certificate or a registry extract of the company (notarially attested) issued within the last six calendar months and translated into Estonian, Russian or English
        • The statutes of the company (notarially attested) translated into Estonian, Russian or English
        • A document (notarially attested) evidencing representation rights
        • An account statement for the last 12 months

Once we’ve received your application to open the account, we’ll get in touch with you as soon as possible to ask for further information, if needed.

If your application is approved, we’ll send the agreement to you for signing. In the event that those representing the company have not previously identified themselves at a branch of Coop Pank, they must do so prior to signing the agreement.

      • When you identify yourself electronically, you can make outgoing payments from your company's account to the value of up to 25,000 euros per month. If you need to make payments to a greater value in a single month, come in and identify yourself at any Coop Pank branch or banking point, bringing personal ID with you.

      • In order to make a share capital contribution, you need to open an e-start-up account for the company you’re setting up. Such an account can be opened in the e-Commercial Register by clicking on the Coop Pank logo.

Once the account has been opened, you should then make your share capital contribution to it.

When this is received, we automatically inform the e-Commercial Register of this, after which you can pay the state fee in the register and submit an application for your company to be registered.

Once your company has been added to the register, you can open a business client’s current account in Coop’s Internet bank.

A start-up account for a company established in the presence of a notary can be opened at one of our branches. When coming in to the branch, make sure you have the following documents with you:

        • The company’s memorandum of association (if there is more than one founder) or foundation resolution (if there is one founder), notarially attested
        • Personal ID of the representative (passport or ID card)
